Testing Your Reactions – Button Pushing Events
In your primary relationships, (e.g. husband, wife, children, other family members, boyfriends, girlfriends, lover, personal friends, work mates and bosses or supervisors)… push the button for each “Button Pushing” event that you find to be true for you by clicking the box.
- Those close to you sometimes don’t show you the consideration that you would like to have
- Those you come in contact with raise their voice when you make a “mistake” or just “yell” at you.
- You are “made wrong” for your viewpoint, your behavior, for the way you live your life or for any number of things
- Your partner is angry about something and they give you the “silent treatment”
- You are afraid of making mistakes
- I often get mad when people don’t listen to me or I am ignored
- People discount or devalue the work that I do at home and or at work
- At times in my life I have been depressed in my primary relationship
- I say yes when I really want to say no
- Blaming -either blaming yourself or others for whatever reason
- Not asking for what you want because you are afraid to do so
- Giving others the cold shoulder or silent treatment
- Constantly finding fault with yourself or others
- Crabbiness- angry feelings that are withheld or inappropriately expressed
- Drinking or eating too much especially of the wrong types of food or drink
- Depressed-being stuck-not having fun or enjoyment in your life
- Uneasy-unduly cautious-fearful feelings
- Being “numbed out” or crying, sadness
- Denial-physical abuse addictions
- Grumpy- constant state of worry or nervousness
- Nonstop talking-hostile humor
- Conflict at work or at home of any kind
- Arguing, trying to prove your point-making something or someone wrong
